As an internal communications professional and volunteer, I’ve helped build connection and engagement through newsletters, intranet development, employee features, recognition programs, and company-wide updates. This portfolio reflects my work in creating transparent, meaningful internal communication that strengthens culture and informs staff.
All visuals have been anonymized to respect confidentiality.
As part of my current volunteer role as the Internal Communications Manager with a nonprofit, I write and produce a monthly internal newsletter designed to keep volunteers informed, connected, and inspired. This edition of the newsletter includes key department updates, a note from the director/founder, and an Inspiring Leadership spotlight featuring a standout leader in the organization.
It also celebrates new volunteers, highlights updates from the national President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) program, and encourages engagement through creative campaigns like “Share Your Summer Story,” which invites volunteers to submit what they’re doing this season via a simple form. My focus is on creating a thoughtful, well-structured communication that reflects the organization’s values while building a sense of community.

This image shows a condensed version of the June 2025 internal newsletter I created for a volunteer organization. Designed for quick reference, this visual was sent to the all-staff email list alongside the full newsletter. It offers a snapshot of key updates for those who may not have time to read the entire issue.

To foster peer-led appreciation and strengthen our internal culture, I lead a monthly Volunteer of the Month initiative.
Each month, volunteers are invited to submit a short nomination form recognizing a teammate who has demonstrated exceptional dedication, collaboration, or leadership. Based on those submissions, one standout volunteer is selected.
To honor the recipient, two key visuals are created:
A social media-style announcement graphic, shared on the organization’s LinkedIn page to celebrate the winner publicly and highlight their role.
A personalized certificate of appreciation, co-signed by our Executive Director and sent directly to the honoree. This certificate includes a brief summary of their impact and a formal thank-you for their contributions.
Both visuals are shared with the winner via email.
I’m currently leading the rebuild of the organization’s internal intranet to create a more streamlined, user-friendly experience for our growing volunteer team. This ongoing project is focused on improving navigation, simplifying access to resources, and better reflecting each team’s unique contributions.
The design you see here is completely new and does not resemble the current intranet layout. I’m redesigning core pages - including the homepage and team-specific sections like Marketing - with updated structures, clearer organization, and consistent branding.
The goal is to make the intranet a true central hub that supports communication, connection, and collaboration across the organization, while laying a stronger foundation for future growth.

Below are two internal employee feature stories I wrote for the Ohio Lottery. To maintain privacy, employee photos and identifiable information have been removed. These stories are typically shared on SharePoint with a visually engaging, creative design.
